About Us
Who we are
Northern Girl Initiative (NGI) is a non-profit organization registered in Canada and Ghana. It was founded in 2016 to promote the social and economic well-being of women and girls in northern Ghana. The organization works to empower marginalized women and girls by providing opportunities for education, skills development, leadership, and economic participation.
NGI operates primarily in underserved communities where women and girls face limited access to education, economic opportunities, and decision-making spaces. Through community-based interventions and strategic partnerships, the organization supports inclusive development and gender equity.
We operate in four (6) districts in Northern Ghana. Our primary beneficiaries are marginalized women and girls mostly between the ages of 12 to 35
