The Community durbar and outreach program brought together women farmers, traditional leaders, Agriculture Extension Officers, CAMFED Agric Guides, NGI’s NoWSAL beneficiaries, students, community volunteers, and other community members to discuss climate change, sustainable agricultural practices, and environmental protection.

This collaboration reinforces our commitment to climate resilience through the Northern Women Sustainable Agricultural Livelihood Project (NoWSAL).

Since 2024, NGI has been working with women in Koduhi Zegu Yili, including the establishment of a climate-smart agriculture demonstration farm supporting 10 women beneficiaries. Through NoWSAL, we are promoting sustainable agricultural practices and creating opportunities for women to strengthen their livelihoods while contributing to environmental sustainability.

The outreach further provided an opportunity to share practical knowledge on climate change, discourage harmful environmental practices such as bush burning and indiscriminate tree felling, and highlight the importance of alternative livelihoods.

Inspiring testimonies from women farmers, including beneficiaries of CAMFED’s Agric Guides programme, demonstrated how access to agricultural training and support can empower women to expand their farming activities, improve household livelihoods, and contribute to their children’s education.

At NGI, we believe that women are not just beneficiaries of climate action; they are essential drivers of sustainable agricultural development and environmental protection.

We are grateful to CAMFED for this collaboration and to the traditional authorities, community leaders, women’s groups, agricultural extension officers, students, and community members who made the engagement meaningful.

Together, we can build resilient communities, strengthen women’s livelihoods, and protect our environment for future generations.
